Tae Shimura is the older sister of Shinpachi and the daughter of the late owner of the Shimura dojo in Edo. After her father's death, she took a job as a hostess at the Snack Smile bar to support her brother and keep the family dojo. Despite her gentle demeanor, she is fiercely protective of her family and friends, and she is known for her superhuman strength and sharp tongue when provoked.
Fans love Tae for her sweet smile and motherly kindness, which contrast with her terrifying strength and quick temper. She is caring and responsible, often acting as a big sister figure to the Yorozuya gang. Her interactions with Gintoki and others are filled with humor and warmth, and her occasional violent outbursts are both shocking and hilarious. Tae's resilience and loyalty make her a beloved character in Gintama.
